Stoney Hill Fine Foods :: Serving Something Special

stoney150.gifNo one could cook like my Grandparents! And no wonder. It was true country living. Fresh air, hard work and farm ingredients. I didn’t know that I had such a yearning to return to those memories until my marriage put me back into a rural setting. My “new” mother promptly began evoking those distant but vivid recollections of all that seemed vibrant to a child. Fresh bread, (made by 10:00am) eggs with richly golden yokes, the sweetness of berries preserved in Bernadine jars and leftover steak that wafted a beefy aroma beyond the adult’s coffee.

Yes, after 10 years of traveling across country and abroad, I had arrived home. Nowhere was the cooking finer. (save for that one awesome meal in the French Alsace.) One need not look beyond Edmonton for quality produce and ingredients to make a fantastic meal. Now Stoney Hill Fine Foods would like you to experience “the good life.”

In 2007, Stoney Hill launched a branded 100% Angus Beef program. A year later, we have Gourmet Secrets asking for exclusivity and 10 times the amount of beef ordered. It’s what I always had on the farm. Beef that was slow grown, young, tender and mostly flavourful.

This year we’d like to offer you and your customers some country sun drenched goodness (namely, vegetables, fruit, herbs and edible flowers). The following list is a first time pilot program for Original Fare restaurants. Imagine an infinite amount of time, resources and energy. You are finally able to grow that gourmet garden. Call it “My Plot”. Fill in a tick- tack- toe sketch with 27 of your most desired items. Imagine them on the menu, and knowing your customers, estimate the amounts needed for a week.
